Karim in Noida / Indirapuram / Vaishali |
The legendary Karim’s of Jama Masjid in Delhi has opened yet another branch for its customers on this side of Hindon. Apparently it seems like a breeding season for Karim’s branches. They have come up in Malviya Nagar (where chic-fish used to be) and now in a rather skeptical site on the NH-24, the Hapur Road from Delhi.
If you’re coming straight from the Nizamuddin bridge through the Delhi-UP border, this would fall on your right, about a kilometer and a half from the chungi point.
At first you may wonder what on earth is a Karim outlet doing in the time-and-again notorious Khora Village, and whether it really, is, THE Karim that one swears by. And then you read the fine details like estd. 1913 and you peep inside to see the similar familiar plastic neelkamal chairs with the red velvet seats and convince yourself on its pedigree.
Well, the restaurant opened this month and I have passed that by many times, without spotting much traffic. They also do home delivery and cater to the palates in Noida, Khora, Indirapuram, Vaishali, Kaushambi and perhaps Patparganj and Vasundhra as well. The menu is as concise as it is as other Karim outlets. Priced not too modestly (it is similar to their Noida, Sec-18 outlet… but considering this one’s in Khora and the latter at Noida-18, the real-estate benefit should be passed on to the clients), an average meal for two should cost Rs. 600-700. Soups are in the range of 35-40 bucks and tandoori starters between Rs 75-300. They also make rolls and the Tandoori Bakra on-order. Needless to mention, the spread is completely biased towards the non-vegetarians and the veggies have to make-do with daal and paneer. A full butter chicken costs Rs. 300 and Rogan Josh comes for Rs. 140. They also serve other delicacies like Badam Pasanda, Maghaz Masala (Brain Curry), Nahari (on Sat. & Sun.) and Fish Fry.
Besides the Birayani, there is Qeema Naan, Parathas, Baqarkhani (Sheer Maal) and the Tandoori (Khameeri - fermented) Roti. Their regular desserts like Kheer, Shahi Tukra and Kulfi are also included in the fare.
In all, a great combination of really good food at decent price and considering the fact that there aren’t much options for people on this side (of Hindon), one looks forward to ordering again.
